Getting started

Deeper is a macOS app for organizing, analyzing, and preparing a DJ library. Install it, load some music, and you're ready to browse, tag, and play.

What you need

• An Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later).
• macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer.

Install

1. Download the Deeper disk image (.dmg) from the download link on the Deeper home page.
2. Open the downloaded file and drag Deeper into your Applications folder.
3. Double-click Deeper to launch. The build is signed and notarized by Apple, so you won't see security warnings.

If macOS still blocks the first launch, see Troubleshooting.

First run: load your library

The first time you open Deeper it starts empty and asks how you'd like to get your music in. You'll see a welcome to deeper screen with three choices:

• Migrate from Rekordbox — imports your tracks, playlists, hot cues, and beatgrids from an existing Rekordbox 6 or 7 library on this Mac. Quit Rekordbox first so the library isn't locked.
• Add a folder of music — point Deeper at a folder of audio files and it scans them into your library.
• Just looking — loads a few demo tracks so you can try the app before committing your own collection.

You can also choose i'll set this up later to skip straight into an empty library. Whichever you pick, you can always add more music afterward by dragging audio files onto the window.

Adding more music later

Drag any audio files or folders directly onto the Deeper window at any time. Imported tracks are added to your library and analyzed automatically (waveform, BPM, key). Supported formats include MP3, WAV, AIFF, M4A, and FLAC.

The built-in server

Deeper runs a small local server on your Mac (on port 52713). This is what powers the app and lets your iPhone connect over Wi-Fi. A few things worth knowing:

• Everything is local. Your library and audio files stay on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud, and there's no account required to use the app.
• Your data lives in ~/Library/Application Support/DeeperApp/. That's where the library database is kept.
• The server runs whenever the app is open, so your phone can sync any time both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. You can check its status under settings → SERVER.

Finding your way around

The library tab is home: your playlist tree on the left, your track table in the middle, and the player docked at the bottom once a track is loaded. Across the top you'll find buttons for tags, devices, lexicon, USB sync, and settings. Each opens a focused panel over your library.
