Your library

The library tab is where you spend most of your time: a playlist tree on the left and a sortable track table in the middle.

The playlist sidebar

On the left is your playlist tree. At the top, all tracks shows your entire library with a total count, and history shows recently played tracks. Below that are your playlists and folders.

• Create things: right-click all tracks and choose new playlist, new smart playlist, or new folder.
• Organize: drag playlists to reorder them or nest them inside folders. Rename inline by pressing Return; expand and collapse folders by clicking them.
• Filter the tree: use the search field above the tree to find a playlist by name.
• Add tracks to a playlist: drag selected tracks from the table onto a playlist in the sidebar.

The track table

The main table lists the tracks in whatever you've selected in the sidebar. The current playlist path is shown at the top, next to a search box and a count of how many tracks are shown. By default the table is sorted by date added, newest first.

Columns

Available columns include a mini waveform, title, artist, album, genre, BPM, key, duration, rating, year, energy, play count, label, comment, bitrate, date added, and tags.

• Choose columns: click the column-chooser (gear) button, or right-click any column header, to toggle which columns are visible.
• Rearrange: drag column headers to reorder them, and drag their edges to resize.
• Per-column filters: click the funnel toggle to reveal a filter input under each column.

Sorting

Click a column header to sort by it; click again to reverse the direction, and once more to clear the sort. An up/down arrow shows the active sort column.

Search

Type in the search box (or press ⌘F) to filter the current list instantly as you type. Clear the box to see everything again.

Rating tracks

The rating column shows five stars. Click or drag across the stars to set a 1–5 rating; click the current value again to clear it. You can also press the number keys 1–5 to rate the selected track.

Editing metadata

There are two ways to edit track details:

• Inline: click a selected cell a second time (like renaming in Finder), or press F2, to edit fields such as title, artist, album, genre, BPM, key, year, label, and comment. Use Tab and Return to move between cells.
• Bulk editor: select one or many tracks and open the metadata editor to change fields across the whole selection at once.

Right-click a track

Right-clicking a row (or selection) gives you quick actions:

• play — load the track into the player.
• show in Finder — reveal the underlying file.
• analyze — run waveform, key, and BPM analysis. See Waveforms & analysis.
• add to playlist — a submenu mirroring your playlist tree.
• remove from playlist — when viewing a single regular playlist.
• remove from library — takes the track out of Deeper but leaves the file in place.
• delete from disk — permanently deletes the file. Deeper asks you to confirm first.

Double-click a row to load it into the player. Clicking a track's mini waveform previews from the point you clicked.
