Waveforms & analysis
Analysis is what makes a track readable: a multi-band waveform, a BPM and beatgrid, and a musical key. Deeper computes these on your Mac and stores them with the track.
What analysis produces
- Waveform — a multi-band waveform (low, mid, high) you can read at a glance and scrub through in the player.
- BPM & beatgrid — the tempo plus a grid of beats, used for beat-jumping and for USB/Rekordbox export.
- Key — the musical key, detected and shown in Camelot notation for harmonic mixing.
Analyzing on import
When you drag audio files onto the window, or migrate from Rekordbox, Deeper analyzes new tracks automatically in the background. You don't need to do anything.
Analyzing specific tracks
Select one or more tracks, right-click, and choose analyze (or use the analyze panel). You can choose exactly what to run with checkboxes:
- waveform
- key
- bpm — when checked, an overwrite beat grid option appears if you want to force the grid to be recomputed.
Analysis runs in the background; a status indicator in the top bar shows progress while it works.
Analyzing the whole library
From the menu bar, choose Tracks → Analyze All, then either:
- Turbo — analyzes as fast as your Mac allows.
- Background — analyzes more gently so the app stays responsive.
The menu shows live progress (for example, Analyzing 240 / 1200) and a Stop Analysis option to halt it.
Waveform display in the player
When a track is loaded, the player shows a large detailed waveform over a thin full-track overview. You can zoom in and out, and switch the waveform style. A band tuner lets you push the low, mid, and high energy up or down so the waveform reads the way you like. See Playback & cues for the full player.
