Tags & smartlists

Tags describe your tracks in your own vocabulary — energy, vibe, situation, whatever you sort by. Smartlists turn those tags and other fields into playlists that keep themselves up to date.

The tag editor

Click tags in the top bar to open the tag editor. Tags are grouped into categories, each with its own color.

Each tag chip shows how many tracks carry it. Use filter tags... at the bottom to find a tag quickly.

Tagging tracks

Fields you can filter on

Rules can be built from: tags, BPM, rating, genre, year, date added, last played, play count, and key. Operators depend on the field — for example, tags support has all / has any / does not have; numbers support ranges and greater/less-than; text supports contains and exact matches; dates support recent, before, and after.

Tip

Already have a smartlist you'd like to freeze as a fixed list? Right-click it in the sidebar and choose copy as regular playlist to snapshot its current tracks.
