iPhone companion

The Deeper iPhone app is a free companion to the Mac app. It carries your library — tracks, tags, cues, and waveforms — in your pocket, and lets you keep sorting and prepping anywhere.

Getting the app

During the beta, the iPhone app is distributed through TestFlight (Apple's beta-testing app). Once you're invited, install TestFlight from the App Store, open your invitation, and install Deeper from there. At launch the app will be free on the App Store.

Connecting to your Mac

The phone connects to your Mac over your local Wi-Fi — there's no cloud in between. Before you start, make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network and the Deeper app is open on your Mac.

1. On the Mac, click devices in the top bar. You'll see a QR code and your Mac's server address.
2. On the phone, open the SYNC tab and either tap SCAN QR to scan that code, or type the server address (for example, 192.168.1.100:52713) into the server URL field and tap CONNECT.
3. The first time, iOS asks permission to find devices on your local network — tap Allow. Without this, the phone can't reach your Mac.
4. The phone shows a 6-digit pairing code and waits. Back on the Mac's devices panel, the phone appears as a pending device — click approve (check the code matches).

Once approved, the two stay paired; you won't need to repeat this each time.

Choosing what syncs

You choose which playlists go to each phone from the Mac. In the devices panel, click your phone to open its sync profile, tick the playlists you want on that device, and save. The phone's PLAYLISTS tab then shows exactly those playlists.

When it syncs, the phone pulls down your tracks, playlists, tags and tag categories, hot cues, memory cues, loops, beatgrids, waveforms, and artwork — plus the audio files for the playlists you chose.

Edits sync both ways

Anything you change on the phone — ratings, notes, tags, hot cues, memory cues, loops, and metadata — syncs back to your Mac. Edits are queued and pushed automatically, so even changes you make offline are sent the next time the phone reaches your Mac.

Using the app

The phone has four tabs plus a settings gear:

• LIBRARY — browse and search your whole library. Pull down on the list to reveal search, and use the filter chips for BPM, key, genre, rating, tags, harmonic key, and untagged/unrated tracks. Sort by title, artist, BPM, key, rating, or date.
• PLAYLISTS — the playlists synced to this phone, including smart playlists.
• TAGS — tag the track that's currently playing, and manage your tag categories.
• SYNC — connection status, downloads, and freeing up space.

Tap a track to play it; the player docks at the bottom and expands to a full deck with the waveform, hot cues, and cue/loop editing. A NEXT UNSORTED control jumps you to the next track that still needs tags or a rating — handy for working through a crate.

Playing offline at a gig

Tracks that have been downloaded to the phone play fully offline — no Mac, no Wi-Fi required. That's what the audio download step during sync is for. Tracks that aren't downloaded can only stream while you're connected to your Mac; offline, they're unavailable. So before a gig, make sure the playlists you need are synced and downloaded.

To reclaim storage, use FREE UP on the SYNC tab, or CLEAR DOWNLOADED MUSIC in Settings. This only removes downloaded audio; your library and your Mac are untouched.
